The Salt March is an important event in history. The salt march is a very important event because it showed a example on how poorly the treated the british and got the world’s attention. The Indian people needed the worlds attention because the needed people to support their protest. On March 12, 1930, the leader Mohandas Gandhi began his defiant march to the sea trying protest of the British monopoly on salt. The British stop this by using Indian soldiers to beat the protesters. Gandhi had led almost a thousands of protesters on 24 day, 240-mile march. The protest and violent response by Britain got India international attention. For example the British charged the Indians unfair prices on taxes. This event affected most people around the world and all of the oppressed people in Indian. The objective of this march was to get the medias on how poorly the British treated by charging unfair prices on salt. Also to gain, attention to show the british the error of the British government on how they treated the Indians. More people started to pay attention. Also people would get beaten just for protesting. Thats how the world stated to pay attention to this struggle.
The Mill Protest was an important event because people over the world started to care about their struggle. The British government were unfairly paid the mill workers. This got the media attention because they were working in bad conditions. The British were alarmed and they quickly raised the pay of the mill workers. The British couldn't find enough workers to work in the mill, so they raised their pay. The mill protest was an important event because it showed how the British giving their employees unfair working conditions. Another reason why the this event was important because it shows injustice things British did.
Noncooperation Movement was one of the most important events under Gandhi’s leadership. This movement was aimed at resisting the British through “ahimsa”Ahimsa the meaning of this word is to swear not to commit any type of violence. Gandhi started to disobey the laws and thats how he was able to disobey these laws. He used civil disobedience, which means that they refused to obey laws. Many people stopped cooperating with the government and stopped paying taxes and buried their passes. This event shows how Gandhi wanted people to be free and he committed no type of violence while doing this. These people were often beaten and put in jail.
Boycotting is a really great strategy in A event unless some people stop supporting the problem or the thing that person is trying to boycott. Gandhi started boycotting british goods especially british made clothing. He encouraged homespun clothing known as Khadi. This is good strategy because it will hurt the british way of making money. Boycotting made the Indians better themselves and made jobs for people. Another reason was to make Indians show show they had their own culture.thats how boycotting was a good strategy.
One the most important strategies that was used in a event was negotiation. Gandhi traveled to england twice between 1930s and 1940s to participate in talks with the british. During these conferences they attempted to negotiate. Most of the british people wanted to end the civil disobedience movement . But only if the british gave india its independence or representation in the government. Most of their discussing failed. The british and indians could never compromise. It was good that Gandhi did not compromise because he knew what he wanted independence for India, the British still wanted India for its resources. Even though nonviolent protest took a long time to finally meet the indians demands. They still got what they wanted. This a good strategy because people need to know how to negotiate if on what they want or there demands. This makes this a good strategy because there will be no violence involved. This event proves that when you commit nonviolent you can ecomplish a lot.
All of the strategies in the events involve non violence which is the best strategy because people won't have to deal with war. When there is no violence nobody gets hurt unless your opponent is dangerous enemy. Despite the people that think violence was best, violence is not the best strategy it kills people and it ruins lives. Gandhi believed in nonviolence that’s how he won his protest and thats how he got Indias independence.
This strategy worked in a lot of other protestant protest like the Anti-Apartheid movement in South Africa just Gandhi, Nelson Mandela started his protest with nonviolence at first. The Anti-Apartheid movement was about segregation of the dutch and and africans. Gandhi led A racial protest in South Africa and he used no violence that protest the used civil disobedience and got international attention. I think this strategy going to work in protest in the future. This strategy is important in these events because nonviolence does causes any violence to people. For example civil disobedience is when people act civilized but people can be defiant of a rule.
